The past few years I’ve really been focused on purchasing items that are less trendy or “fast fashion” and more timeless and classic. I spotted this Who What Wear x Target dress the other day and was so distracted with trying to frantically find it in my size that I completely forgot about the vitamins that I actually went in there for! (I like Olly if you’re wondering!)
I love the shirtdress style with the optional belted waist — totally classic, but able to be dressed up or down with the addition of jewelry, heels, sandals, or even jeans! Its also super lightweight and will be perfect for dinner or drinks on hot summer nights. I will note that its not as opaque as I’d like it to be, so I wore a slip underneath!
Check back next week for Part 2 where I’ll style the dress in a totally different way. This dress will definitely be in heavy rotation in my wardrobe this summer!
These days I’m all about the relaxed California vibe — and when I spotted these pink wide-leg pants I knew they would be perfect for the summer. Although it gets super hot inland, it stays cooler near the water and in the marina where we live. The wide-leg is breezy enough for the daytime, but keeps me warm once the sun goes down. I also always throw my jean jacket into the car, just in case!
Doug and I are also obsessed with anything from Alternative Apparel — like this tank. They have the softest t-shirts and we’ve been back to their Venice location twice to stock up. Along with the tank tops, I have their organic french terry crewneck and zip up hoodie. The hoodie is currently on sale now too!
Doug and I recently scouted out a new location in Newburyport for photos — I just loved the rugged backdrop against the fancier heels and skirt. It was also kind of hidden behind a parking lot, so I was able to dodge any funny looks from the visiting tourists!
When I first saw this midi skirt I wasn’t sure I was going to like it. It seemed pretty long! But once I tried it on I absolutely loved it. With a jacket and pumps I could dress it up for work, or I could leave it dressed down like I’m wearing here. I also followed this new “French rule” for wearing skirts and heels — flats for skirts above the knee, and heels for skirts below the knee. These Peter Pilotto for Target heels were a total impulse buy a few years back (similar styles here, here and here) and although I don’t wear them often, sometimes with the right outfit they are totally on point.
When Ann Taylor sent me this jacket, I just knew it would be super versatile. The most obvious choice would be to dress it up with a pencil skirt or dress pants, but I thought that pairing it with some skinny jeans might be more fun. I love the black piping and lightweight tweed-y fabric. I will definitely be keeping it in rotation all summer — it will be perfect for keeping warm in my chilly air conditioned office, and at night as a light jacket once the sun goes down.
It’s not available yet, but keep your eyes peeled as it will be available online and in stores on May 18th! Also, stay tuned for a Parts 2&3 for other ways to style this jacket!
You know the saying, “If you can’t beat them, join them?” Well thats how I feel about life right about now. The snow banks are growing by the day and probably will be here until July. So, I decided that if Mother Nature wants to play this game, well I will too! Here are some “white out” items that I’ve been lusting over lately. And really, when spring finally comes along these white items (especially this white stone and crystal necklace by Lulu Frost) would look so fabulous and fresh!
