It may not look like winter up here in New England, but today it certainly felt like it! There’s nothing I love more than a super cozy sweater on a cold day. I wrapped up in this cozy Fair Isle sweater from Old Navy for a quick walk on the beach at Plum Island before we headed home to host a little holiday party for some friends and family. I loved that the sweater feels like a really chic blanket. The sides are perfectly drapey, but the sleeves are still fitted so I don’t feel overwhelmed. I have a feeling this sweater is going to be on repeat until the spring!
Thanks to Old Navy for sponsoring Rules for the Modern Girl.
We got a modest blanket of snow right before Thanksgiving — just enough to cover the ground, but not so much that our travel plans were delayed. We headed up to the beach in New Hampshire for Thanksgiving Day for a traditional turkey dinner with all of the fixings.
I found these tweed shorts at Old Navy a few weeks ago and just fell in love. I can’t wear them to work — but they are so fun for a date night or holiday party. Doug had some reservations about me wearing “shorts” in the winter, but I did my best to explain that with some opaque tights they were okay. And with my fur coat I’d never get cold — its the warmest coat I have ever owned!
Just a quick post as we head into the weekend! I can’t wait for some nice high 70* weather so I can finally take my kayak out on the river and go for another bike ride to Plum Island. I hope you all have something wonderful planned, even if its just sitting out and relaxing in the sun.
PS. I can’t believe how green my backyard looks now!
Last week I embraced the sunny weather and took some half-days off from work to head to the beach. I didn’t have much with me– no lounge chair, iPod, snacks, etc. It was just me, my sunscreen, a beach blanket and the sounds of the ocean! (OK – I did bring a magazine & a bottle of water too!) It was just so nice to relax and listen to the waves. I can’t wait to go back up to the beach next weekend! Although I love the summer and laying out in the sun, I do try my best to keep my skin safe! This big floppy hat is perfect for shading my face, ears and shoulders– which are prime burn areas for most of us!!
It has FINALLY stopped raining in New England and I just cannot wait to get outside and to the beach. I’ve been working hard all week and I think I just might take a half day on Friday and hop on over to Jenness Beach in Rye, NH for some sun. In preparation for my impromptu afternoon off, I’ve been packing together all my favorite beach things!
