You know how I know its super hot out? I actually will put on a pair of shorts! I’m not a huge fan of shorts — I just don’t think they are really flattering on me, but I do like this pair from J.Crew. The pop of pink really livens up an otherwise simple outfit and with my flowy black tank I wasn’t dying of heat too much as we walked into town for some Tuesday Tacos at Dos Amigos.
Doug asn’t a huge fan of my sunglasses (and he also cut out of ALL the pictures my cute Jack Rogers jelly sandals!) but when I saw them at Nordstrom and just had to have them! They were quite a steal at under $40 and added a bit of fun to my un-accessorized outfit. And to really make a statement… they also come in leopard!
Took a casual stroll into town the other day to do some shopping at my favorite Newburyport stores. I always hit up AliKat, Bobbles & Lace, French Lessons, and Francesca’s for cute clothing and accessories. On this particular day I came home with an adorable peasant style dress from AliKat and I can’t wait to wear it!
I’ve been trying to keep my wardrobe full of easy pieces, like this striped dress, that will keep me cool on hot days since I don’t have any AC! My hair is super long these days so I’ve been trying my hand at some chic braids and buns to keep it off my face, but most days I just give up, throw on a straw hat, and pull it back into a pony tail.
Sometimes, I just don’t know how we all manage our lives. I have work, my house, a husband, the blog, bills, freelance work, and so much more! My yard desperately needs some post-winter TLC, both bedrooms need ceiling paint, my car’s roof rack is still in a box, and the list continues. I feel like the only way to make it through the day is to be super, super organized.
I have more store discount rewards cards than I know what to do with, so I put them all in a J.Crew magic wallet. This definitely helps when I am at the Panera drive through, searching frantically for my rewards card! I have a jewelry cabinet, but I keep some of my most-loved and most-worn jewelry in a case for easy access and quick travels. I love this mint green Ted Baker case, especially with the bow!
When we moved I overhauled my closet with all new hangers, including these Laura Ashley padded hangers for delicate items. And now, I ask for all of our dry clean items to be folded so I can avoid those horrible wire hangers! Although I keep most of my scarves in a Tupperware bin under my bed, I found this neat scarf hanger to hold some of my most “popular” scarves of the week.
I hate coats draped over the side of a chair, so I promptly installed some coat hooks when we moved into our house. I love everything French/France, so my mom got me these adorable kitchen canisters for tea and sugar. I do own an iPhone, but theres something about a paper planner that just makes me feel so organized. I love Graphic Image planners the best. And finally, my husband seems to take a few days to go through his mail, so I used this fancy wire basket to store his letters and magazines in, until I can convince him to sort it!
I just love this dress! I love the “varsity” feel with the stripes on the arms and the cute side zippers. I wasn’t sure what to pair with it for shoes, since its not exactly spring yet, but when I saw Mary from MAS Fashion wear her Nike Frees on her trip to London and Paris, I knew they would be the perfect shoe for this dress too! I don’t typically wear sneakers outside of the gym, so this was definitely a change for me… and I kind of liked it!
These pictures were taken on Cape Cod where, although very cold, there is not a flake of snow! It was SO nice to see sun and semi-green grass, since back at home I still have a huge snowbank of frozen ice in front of my house, as well as on my back porch.
PS- if you head over to J.Crew my dress is an extra 40% percent off with code Extra40!
As 2013 comes to a close, I wanted to say a huge thank you to all of my readers for following along this past year! I’ll be taking a few days off for my LASIK surgery, but the next time you see me I will be bright eyed and glasses-free!
