I have always been mindful of sunscreen, but not as much as I should have been. I definitely brought it out for a day at the beach or when biking around town, but I never really thought about wearing it every day when I lived in Massachusetts — and I definitely should have!!!
Now that I live in California, I feel as if I have become more mindful of the sun and its harmful rays. Even in a short drive I can be stuck in traffic for 30-45 minutes, and I need to be sure I am protecting myself from the sun! Not only am I worried about my skin, but also my hair! My colorist says that too much sun can turn my newly blonde locks brassy. Yuck!
Because I work from home and don’t get super dressed up that often, I felt like a “double duty” product would work best for me. I wanted sun protection with a little bit of coverage. — and Coola’s tinted BB and CC creams are the perfect products. They are lightweight, yet powerful in sun protection, and provide just the right amount of blendable coverage.
I try to be as mindful as possible (it’s difficult!!!) when it comes to cosmetics on my skin, so thankfully Coola makes the decision easy. Organic and natural ingredients make it easier for me to feel good about the products I am using on my skin. Happy Summer!!!!
Summer is definitely the time of year when I pare down my beauty routine. With no AC in my house and the Boston weather being a mix of hot and humid, I do what I can to ensure that I’m looking my best without my makeup melting off my face. Here are some of my favorite summer beauty products as of late:
Beach Blonde Sea Waves Salt Spray: Its back! John Freida’s legendary Beach Blonde products are back and better than ever! My hair doesn’t get beach waves, but this product gives my thin hair great volume. I spray it on my roots when my hair is damp, leave it to dry for a little bit, and then blow dry it for a few minutes.
Coola Makeup Setting Spray & SPF 30: This stuff is great and I don’t know how I survived so many summers without it! A 70% organic formula (yeah!) that helps set makeup with a matte finish while also providing SPF 30 protection.
Jo Malone Wood Sage & Sea Salt Cologne: I love this scent more than anything I have ever tried before, and it made more special by the fact that I tried it for the first time while I was shopping in Paris.
Sun Bum Sunscreen SPF 50: Hopefully a no-brainer, but sunscreen is a must! On the weekends when I am home I love to go biking and kayaking, or sometimes just a lazy day at the beach. Of course, I never go out in the sun without sunscreen, and Sun Bum is my favorite because it smells like the Caribbean!
Marcelle BB Cream: I try to keep the makeup on my face to a minimum, so this BB Cream is the perfect answer. It has a bit of a gold sheen and brightens my face without being too heavy.
Tarte Lip Tint: No heavy lipsticks for me in the summer. Tarte’s Lip Tint is light but gives a nice dose of color that won’t melt off. And I always have the option of putting a gloss over it if its not too hot out!

PS – This post is not sponsored. These are all products I bought with my own hard earned moola and that I am loving for summer!
When I first subscribed to Birchbox last year, I thought it would just be a fun subscription for a beauty junkie like me. What a dream to get a fun little box of samples each month! It wasn’t until last week when I had been away from home for a week that I noticed something— most of the “travel sized” items in my toiletry bag were all from Birchbox! It was nice to have a touch of luxury to my daily routine, even while I was away.
I keep all of my sample sized items in a big makeup bag and poke through it every so often when I am looking to try something new. Some items are just fun to try, but others are definitely keepers that I add to my daily beauty arsenal! I have already purchased the full sized Embryolisse facial lotion and now I’ve also got the detangler and body gel (pictured above) on my list of items to purchase soon.
