Doug and I recently scouted out a new location in Newburyport for photos — I just loved the rugged backdrop against the fancier heels and skirt. It was also kind of hidden behind a parking lot, so I was able to dodge any funny looks from the visiting tourists!
When I first saw this midi skirt I wasn’t sure I was going to like it. It seemed pretty long! But once I tried it on I absolutely loved it. With a jacket and pumps I could dress it up for work, or I could leave it dressed down like I’m wearing here. I also followed this new “French rule” for wearing skirts and heels — flats for skirts above the knee, and heels for skirts below the knee. These Peter Pilotto for Target heels were a total impulse buy a few years back (similar styles here, here and here) and although I don’t wear them often, sometimes with the right outfit they are totally on point.
Hi! So its been awhile — I took a bit of an unexpected break this past month from blogging. A mix of illness, work travel, and general summer kept me busy, but I’m feeling better and I can’t wait to get back into my blogging groove!
I know that lots of stores are buzzing about their fall collections, but we still have over a month, maybe two months, of summer left! This blue and white striped maxi is such a stunner — it can totally be dressed down for a casual alfresco dinner, or dressed up for a wedding. Who doesn’t love summer stripes!?
Here I’m on the beach on Plum Island, which is one of my favorite beach spots and I’m so lucky to live just 4.5 miles away! Its been so busy that I haven’t biked here yet this summer, but I’m hoping to make a few trips out in September. I just love sitting on the beach in the early fall with a blanket and a good book!
The best part about this dress? It’s currently over 50% off! No coupon codes necessary, just head on over to Ann Taylor.com and scoop up some of their awesome sale items.
Maxi dresses are my favorite dresses for summer — super easy and very forgiving — so I’ve been stocking up with some of the end of summer sales. Here are some of the other dresses in my shopping cart:
On our first full day in Los Angeles we woke up bright and early (thanks Eastern time!) and headed off in search of breakfast burritos and the beach! We stayed in a cute little AirBnB just one block from Venice’s Muscle Beach and spent our mornings drinking coffee and watching the surfers before heading out for the day.
I tried my best to embrace the “windblown” look as the hair dryer in our AirBnB was broken. To add to my hair troubles, we were also renting a Mustang convertible for the week which was super fun to drive, but didn’t help my hair. Thankfully our hotel in San Diego had a hairdryer so my hair was back to normal in a few days!
When I first saw this white dress from Ann Taylor it reminded me of an all-white tennis outfit. The sporty chic look deserved nothing less than my preppiest accessories and a seaside background that included Newburyport’s finest boats and yachts.
I was hoping to sign up for some sailing lessons this summer but the class filled up before I was able to snag a seat. I’m on the waiting list, just in case anyone cancels or they decide to open another class. Hopefully they will find a spot for me so I can cruise around the harbor this summer!
This pink Ann Taylor dress is so pretty to wear — I had big plans to wear it to a bridal shower last month until my work travel plans changed and I sadly could no longer attend. Its perfect for a daytime event — bridal or baby shower, brunch, etc., but could also definitely be dressed up with the right accessories!
Speaking of accessories, my new obsession are my Fit in Clouds flats. They come in several cute styles and fold up so I can keep them with me on days where I’m not wearing super friendly shoes. I’ve already stashed a pair in my car, another in my purse, and a third in my work bag. I love my heels, but never again will I be stranded with achy feet!
