Christmas in New York City

NYC (1)

Every Christmas Doug and I take a trip to New York City.  We typically go see the tree, visit a museum, shop at the holiday markets (Columbus Circle or Bryant Park), and see a Broadway show. I really look forward to this trip and was so happy we could go. Growing up in Connecticut I visited NYC quite frequently, but I don’t get to go as often as I’d like now that I live in Massachusetts.

We head in early via Metro North and then drop off our bags at our hotel. This year we stayed at Club Quarters – Midtown, which was very close to the theaters, Bryant Park, and Grand Central. We waited in line for the Book of Mormon ticket lottery, but sadly did not win any tickets. However, we were able to get some really great 3rd row seats at Mamma Mia which is such a fun musical!  But, we’re hoping to snag some tickets when Book of Mormon comes to Boston in April.

The Eugene O’Neill theater where the Book of Mormon plays is right across the street from one of our favorite NYC bars — Lillie’s.  We typically stop in for lunch and a glass of wine to warm up after waiting in the cold for tickets!

One of my favorite things to do is walk around the holiday shops.  Sadly the Columbus Circle shops close before Christmas, but the Bryant Park Winter Village is still open!  We walked through all of the booths, watched people ice skate, and ate Nutella crêpes.

No NYC trip is complete without a few Metro North selfies!  We got to Grand Central super early so we could be sure to get some seats. Until next year, New York!

Back to School

August always makes me think about “Back to School”.  Of course all of the school supplies sales that are flooding the stores now definitely help my nostalgia kick in, and I couldn’t help but feel a little old walking by the Trapper Keepers and pencil cases while I walked through Staples with my boxes and packaging tape.  (Oh yeah, did I mention we bought a house?  More on that later!)

Since I’ve been out of school for quite some time now, “Back to School” for me really means “Shop for Fall Clothes”.  Here are some of the things I’ve had my eye on lately.   Oh, those boots!  Je mourrai!

Banana Republic just launched their Limited Edition collaboration collection with designer Issa.  You know… the designer that made Kate Middleton’s navy blue engagement dress?  Well, now you too can dress like Kate and be your own Duchess!  I cannot wait to get over to my own BR to check out these fabulous dresses, and more.  I’m thinking I really love the printed dress.  What about you?
