Every Christmas Doug and I take a trip to New York City. We typically go see the tree, visit a museum, shop at the holiday markets (Columbus Circle or Bryant Park), and see a Broadway show. I really look forward to this trip and was so happy we could go. Growing up in Connecticut I visited NYC quite frequently, but I don’t get to go as often as I’d like now that I live in Massachusetts.
We head in early via Metro North and then drop off our bags at our hotel. This year we stayed at Club Quarters – Midtown, which was very close to the theaters, Bryant Park, and Grand Central. We waited in line for the Book of Mormon ticket lottery, but sadly did not win any tickets. However, we were able to get some really great 3rd row seats at Mamma Mia which is such a fun musical! But, we’re hoping to snag some tickets when Book of Mormon comes to Boston in April.
The Eugene O’Neill theater where the Book of Mormon plays is right across the street from one of our favorite NYC bars — Lillie’s. We typically stop in for lunch and a glass of wine to warm up after waiting in the cold for tickets!
One of my favorite things to do is walk around the holiday shops. Sadly the Columbus Circle shops close before Christmas, but the Bryant Park Winter Village is still open! We walked through all of the booths, watched people ice skate, and ate Nutella crêpes.
No NYC trip is complete without a few Metro North selfies! We got to Grand Central super early so we could be sure to get some seats. Until next year, New York!
