From my little family to yours…
A few years ago my entire family went to Puerto Vallarta, MX for Christmas. It was SO much fun. Many people asked what it was like to not be at “home” for Christmas and said they could never not be home for the holidays. But to be honest, it was so great to be having fun in the sun, instead of shoveling snow at home. And besides, my entire family was with me and home is where the heart is, right?!
We’re not going this year, but I packed my imaginary suitcase anyway with what I’d bring on the trip. I love the Topshop collection at Nordstrom, inducing these two bikinis (1 and 2). I am a book and magazine junkie when on vacation, so I’d definitely bring this cute tote (3) to pack everything in. Of course, sunglasses (4) and a hat (5) are essential for reading in the sun. And, last but most certainly not least, sunscreen (6) and lip balm with SPF (7) are must-haves to keep my skin hydrated and safe from the harmful sun rays.
This (#nofilter!) photo was taken on Christmas Day on our first Christmas trip to Mexico. Doesn’t the water look gorgeous?! We took a taxi to a really cute open-air church to go to a Christmas mass. The entire mass was in Spanish and I didn’t understand much besides “Niño Jesus”, but it was such a fun experience. Feliz Navidad!
Sunday I drove my husband to the train station for a work trip in New York City (jealous!). I ran a few errands and was home by 1pm–all I wanted to do was fit on the couch and watch TV. Of course, the only thing that I could find on TV was a Say Yes to the Dress marathon. So, of course I watched it. And it made me totally nostalgic for my own wedding and wedding dress.
It was just me and my mom when I got ready. It was nice and peaceful and very calming.
We look all smiles, but in this photo I am actually arguing with my dad about wearing this veil.
We had a picture perfect ceremony. A little windy, though! (Note: No veil — it flew off!)
One of my most favorite candids of the day — right after walking down the aisle.
We were so happy to be married and celebrating at Saltwater Farm Vineyard.
Our first dance was so much fun. We danced to Fallen by Lauren Wood.
I had the most gorgeous custom made hair clip by Percy Handmade.

Just a quick post to say thank you to my most amazing husband and the man behind the Modern Girl! Doug is real jack of all trades — he works in marketing analytics, but moonlights as a blogger photographer, outfit opinion giver, full website tech support team, and more! Rules for the Modern Girl would not be able to function without all of his help and support. Hip Hip Hooray for Doug!
