There are some weekends where I really do have good intentions of taking lots of photos and documenting my experiences here on the blog, but sometimes I just get caught up in real life and forget. I like to think of this as a good thing sometimes. First and foremost, I am a person! I live to blog, and not blog to live. So this past weekend, although I lugged along my big camera and had plans to take lots of 4th of July weekend photos, I took none. None! Luckily, I did capture a few moments on my iPhone and can share them with you….
Last week I had enough of the heat and broke down and bought a fan at CVS.
I escaped to the Cape house (with real AC) and got to see Chatham’s amazing 4th of July parade!
Loved these guys! Pirates from Connecticut!
The girls from In The Pink rode through town in the cutest Lilly Pulitzer Jeep!
Can’t have a parade without a local high school marching band!
Had a little power outage commotion thanks to Hurricane Arthur!
Of course, the sky looked amazing after the storm!
I finally got to visit Mahi Gold and buy one of their amazing dresses! Or maybe two….!
Finished off the weekend with 2 bike rides, and a trip to Maine for some more kayaking gear!
The 4th of July is one of my favorite holidays — it reminds me of my summers on Cape Cod as a kid where we would dress up in our red, white, and blue outfits and watch the parade roll through town. Things haven’t changed much since then, as I still love to dress up, BBQ with friends and family, and watch the parade!
I had the cutest pair of red lace up sandals that I wore every year for the 4th, but sadly they were getting a little old and I tossed them after last year’s festivities. Of course, that means I am on the hunt for some new patriotic accessories! I’ve included some of my favorite items — perfect for any 4th of July parade, family BBQ, or even late night fireworks!
One of my favorite little shops on the Cape was part of the Wayside Inn — but it’s closed! I was so surprised when I walked by and saw the place all dark and empty! I was sad to miss the little ornaments and cape items, but took full advantage of the empty storefront for some outfit pictures. The entire weekend was rainy and cloudy, but we lucked out on our walk into town on Saturday and missed all of the rain. My only purchase of the day was fudge from the amazing Chatham Candy Manor, so my wallet (and Doug) was happy about that!
The Mayflower has been one of my favorite stores since I was a kid! Its a little different now, but I always peek inside for their fun Cape and nautical themed gifts! I also bought my Nantucket Bike Basket there in the fall! The Squire (pictured below) is practically a historical Chatham landmark!
Mom was finally able to bring up her Mother’s Day present — and of course I had to take it for a little spin around the neighborhood! Next time I’ll probably bring my bike up so we can ride around together!
I had a lovely, yet rainy weekend on the Cape last week to celebrate Father’s Day and my 2nd wedding anniversary. I wore this outfit to dinner one night — just a simple black dress with some metallic accessories to kick it up a bit! This clutch by K.Slademade is a staple in my wardrobe. I bring it everywhere!
I just love this dress! I love the “varsity” feel with the stripes on the arms and the cute side zippers. I wasn’t sure what to pair with it for shoes, since its not exactly spring yet, but when I saw Mary from MAS Fashion wear her Nike Frees on her trip to London and Paris, I knew they would be the perfect shoe for this dress too! I don’t typically wear sneakers outside of the gym, so this was definitely a change for me… and I kind of liked it!
These pictures were taken on Cape Cod where, although very cold, there is not a flake of snow! It was SO nice to see sun and semi-green grass, since back at home I still have a huge snowbank of frozen ice in front of my house, as well as on my back porch.
PS- if you head over to J.Crew my dress is an extra 40% percent off with code Extra40!
