I have always been mindful of sunscreen, but not as much as I should have been. I definitely brought it out for a day at the beach or when biking around town, but I never really thought about wearing it every day when I lived in Massachusetts — and I definitely should have!!!
Now that I live in California, I feel as if I have become more mindful of the sun and its harmful rays. Even in a short drive I can be stuck in traffic for 30-45 minutes, and I need to be sure I am protecting myself from the sun! Not only am I worried about my skin, but also my hair! My colorist says that too much sun can turn my newly blonde locks brassy. Yuck!
Because I work from home and don’t get super dressed up that often, I felt like a “double duty” product would work best for me. I wanted sun protection with a little bit of coverage. — and Coola’s tinted BB and CC creams are the perfect products. They are lightweight, yet powerful in sun protection, and provide just the right amount of blendable coverage.
I try to be as mindful as possible (it’s difficult!!!) when it comes to cosmetics on my skin, so thankfully Coola makes the decision easy. Organic and natural ingredients make it easier for me to feel good about the products I am using on my skin. Happy Summer!!!!
Things have been a little rough lately, especially for the blog! If you follow me on Instagram, you saw that Doug and I were in California last week to visit some friends and attend a wedding. I brought lots of cool new pieces to wear, including this dress and this skirt from Ann Taylor, but Doug’s camera broke on Day 1 and I came home with only a few photos.
Then we headed off to the Cape for the 4th of July, but I got really sick and ended up in the hospital. Again, I packed a ton of fun outfits, including a fun patriotic scarf from AliKat, new Soludos ankle tie espadrilles, a silver maxi from Target, and a Nic + Zoe tunic. But I spent all weekend sick in my pajamas and of course, didn’t take any pictures.
Hopefully this month will start to turn around. Doug’s getting his camera fixed, and I’m feeling a lot better. Here are a few iPhone snaps from our trips, just to prove that there were a few good times in the midst of everything!
Although it was pretty chilly on the Cape this Memorial Day weekend, I still wanted to wear a bright and summery all-white outfit. I love these Joe’s Jeans — they are stain proof! Since it was still cool, I wore a 3/4 sleeve mixed media sweater with a lace bottom. It was a fall purchase, but I’ve linked to several similar summer-weather pieces below! And I picked up this cute canvas clutch earlier in the day at one of the local shops in town, The Mayflower. Its changed quite a bit since I shopped there as a kid, but they have a ton of great home decor items, clothing, jewelry, and gifts.
Don’t forget to use my code rulesforthemoderngirlxoxo for a free month of Rocksbox! They send awesome pieces from so many different brands, and you can select individual items for your wishlist, so they know what styles you like! I love my Margaret Elizabeth ring and wear it almost every day!
Happy Memorial Day. Although most of us have been spending our long weekend at the beach with friends and family, its important to remember the real reason for today’s holiday. Its a day of remembrance and thanks for all of those brave men and women who sacrificed their lives so we could have the freedoms that we enjoy today.
So let those American flags fly proud today as we remember all of our amazing men and women in our military — past, present, and future.
I mentioned yesterday that I finally was able to head over to Mahi Gold and buy one of their amazing dresses! I had seen their store being built on my last visit to Chatham, MA and I couldn’t wait to head back when they were open to check out their stuff! I came home with two dresses, but really wanted to bring home the entire shop. Here is one of the dresses I purchased, the Docksider Maxi in Navy/Teal.
